Pippa's Song

ROBERT BROWNING (1812-1889)

from Pippa Passes

The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His heaven-
All's right with the world!

The above poem appears in the middle of Part 1 of the play
Pippa Passes. The stage direction preceeding it is "[From
without is heard the voice of Pippa singing-". The direction
immediately following is "[Pippa passes."
